 Description:  Section 14C-3 of the Illinois School Code (105 ILCS 5/14C-3) requires that all K-12 students identified as ELL be tested annually for English proficiency in four language domains: aural comprehension (listening), speaking, reading, and writing. Since SY 2006, ISBE has prescribed the ACCESS for ELLs for the annual English proficiency assessment of ELL students.

 Description:  Public Act 90-548 created the Illinois Education Funding Advisory Board (EFAB) in December of 1997. Members are to include representatives of education, business, and the general public and their terms are limited to four years. The statutory charge of EFAB, as stated in 105 ILCS 5/18-8.05 (M) is to make recommendations to the General Assembly for the foundation level and for the supplemental general State aid grant level for districts with high concentrations of children from poverty. The recommended foundation level shall be determined based on a methodology which incorporates the basic education expenditures of low-spending schools exhibiting high academic performance.

Report on Radon Test Results in Illinois Public Schools

 Description:  Pursuant to Sections 10-20.48 and 34-18.39 of the Illinois School Code, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) is submitting this report containing radon test results taken from Illinois school districts. It is recommended that every occupied school building of the school district be tested every five years for radon, pursuant to rules established by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA). The school district shall report radon test results to the State Board of Education, which shall prepare a report every two years of the results from all schools tat have performed tests.
